The E-invoicing Portal: Every FD’s Crystal Ball
A Fundtech article on receivables e-invoicing features in the Spring/Summer edition of Director of Finance Magazine that takes a closer look at the ‘E-invoicing Portal’ and how it can provide Finance Directors with an invaluable insight into their receivables status. According to Billentis, the full cost of processing a paper invoice including all the time consuming tasks such as query resolution and credit control, is at least €11.10 per invoice. A major contributor to this high cost is the lack of a central repository for all AR data. There is no way to quickly find out if an invoice has be received, queried or paid. Finance directors often find themselves in a position of making blind decisions with little information about the bigger picture. This doesn’t happen with e-invoicing….
Direct Debit Research on UK Local Authorities
We recently conducted a research campaign of UK local authorities to find out what problems they were experiencing in finance departments, specifically relating to payment collections by Direct Debits. We found that many local authorities were experiencing similar problems, due to a number of reasons, but mainly budget cuts and cost efficiency pressures. We also found that many of these problems could easily be resolved quickly and cost-efficiently by implementing a Direct Debit Management System (DDMS).
