Cartoon: Invoicing Fun for the Holidays

Happy Holidays from Everyone at Accountis
2009 has been a good year for e-invoicing. We have seen a significant shift in the attitudes of companies both large and small towards e-invoicing who now recognise the benefits of implementation and are ready to make the switch, especially in Accounts Receivable. This shift seems to be happening Worldwide, for example in countries such as Chile, India and Russia. Banks too seem to have made the decision to take positive steps towards offering both corporate and SME solutions. Highlights of 2009 for us have included a successful EXPP Summit and our acquisition of InterSoftware which expanded our UK corporate payments customer base to 8,500 representing over one-third of all companies processing Bacs payments. We hope that 2010 will be bigger and better! We are particularly looking forward to our Client Conference, which takes place in March as part of Fundtech Insights London.
May we take this opportunity to wish all our customers, associates, resellers and everyone else we work with a very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year. Please click here to view our corporate Christmas e-Card!
To mandate, or not to mandate: that is the question.
How do you get customers to sign-up to your e-invoicing project? It’s perhaps the golden question and certainly the one that needs to be tackled head on. And more and more companies seem to be doing exactly that by mandating that their customers get onboard. In Europe especially, companies are taking this “opt-out” approach to onboarding to ensure quick success. In some cases, customers who don’t sign-up are charged for their paper invoices.
Of course, mandating adoption is easier for large corporates who have the weight to encourage smaller customers to take part. A bit harsh maybe, but perhaps it’s a case of being cruel to be kind. E-invoicing is beneficial for all involved (time and cost savings, reduced DSO etc) so giving invoice recipients a gentle push to do it can only be a good thing, can’t it? In most cases, signing up to e-invoicing is as simple as clicking on a link to view invoice online – a process that takes just few moments….and with the added bonus of adopting a more environmentally friendly technology, why on *saving the* earth would anyone object anyway?
